Brown University, founded in 1764, is a prominent research university and the seventh oldest university in the United States. The private Ivy League university is among the nine institutions of higher education chartered in the Thirteen Colonies before the American Revolution. Accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, Brown University is ranked 5th in the Best Colleges 2021 edition of The Times Higher Education/Wall Street Journal. The U.S. News & World Report ranked the university 14th in its 2021 edition of Best National University Rankings. Globally, Brown is ranked 60th in QS World University Rankings 2021 and 61st in THE World University Rankings 2021.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Located in Providence, Rhode Island, the campus of Brown University spans across an area of 143 acres. It comprises the College, the Graduate School, the School of Engineering, Alpert Medical School, the School of Public Health and the School of Professional Studies. Browns main campus includes a total of 235 buildings which sit on a 15-acre block and offers athletics and recreation facilities, a range of dedicated services in support of health and wellness, housing and dining, 400+ student organizations, 6 libraries and so on. All in all, Brown has over 80 undergraduate concentrations with 2,000+ undergraduate courses offered every year, 33 masters degree programs and 51 doctoral programs delivered by 816 full-time faculty.

Brown Universitys list of notable alumni transcends national borders in a wide spectrum of study areas. As of November 2019, the university has been associated with eight Nobel Prize winners, seven National Humanities Medal recipients, 25 Pulitzer Prize winners, 17 billions, 99 members of the US Congress, one U.S. Supreme Court Justice , four U.S. Secretaries of State, 52 Gates Cambridge Scholars and more. Prominent alumni include Emma Watson, Charles Evans Hughes, John Krasinski, Chris Hayes, John Haye, John D. Rockefeller Jr., to name a few. Brown University has been widely recognized for its innovative teaching, engaged learning, local impact and its long-time commitment to contribute to the economic development of the city of Providence.

Brown has a global community of over 2,700 international students, scholars and their families representing over 63 nations and 69 languages. 43% of its students identify as students of colour. Excellent teaching environment with well equipped laboratories prepares the graduate students at Brown University for bright careers and help them achieve leadership qualities.
